Posted by artrex31 on 2008-07-24 05:10:54: Arthur Laurants gargantuan ego warrranted this revival, the last revival with Bernadette Peters was less than inspiring. I love this new production but original concept? No it's just Laurants trying to prove his book is the best aspect of this show. Of course it might be one of the best musical books ever but it is the whole package that has made this legendary.
I think Gypsy should come back every 5 or 6 years for each new theater generation. No one complains if La Boheme returns every other season to an opera company! No one protests is Hamlet plays somewhere every single year. Gypsy is no less a masterpiece. > 11 Comments
