| fshepinc 2008-08-10 04:46:23 | I have heard from a well-placed source that the producers wanted the soundtrack to sound like a pop album, which is why the takes and mix are very different from the film. They are considering a special edition CD release that would include the missing songs, and perhaps include some of the versions that were actually used in the film. |

Aber Achtung: Hierbei handelt es sich um keine weitere Greatest-Hits-Compilation der legendären schwedischen Popband, sondern die Schauspieler singen die weltberühmten Songs. Das tun Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan & Co. allerdings durchaus sehr ordentlich und unterhaltsam. Über 30 Millionen Zuschauer haben seit der Uraufführung am 6.April 1999 das nach Abbas gleichnamigen Tophit aus dem Jahre 1975 betitelte Musical weltweit gesehen. Das Quartett selber hat bis heute mehr als 270 Millionen Tonträger verkauft. Angesichts dieses Mega-Erfolges lag es auf der Hand, das Ganze auch in einer Filmvariante zu vermarkten. Dafür ersann eine Drehbuchautorin folgende Geschichte: Die alleinerziehende Donna (Meryl Streep/Der Teufel trägt Prada, 101 Dalmatiner, Out Of Africa) lebt mit ihrer Tochter auf einer griechischen Insel. Dort besitzt sie ein kleines Hotel. Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) wiederum wird in Kürze heiraten. Ihre Mutter hat der zukünftigen Braut jedoch nie verraten, wer ihr leiblicher Vater ist. Doch von genau diesem möchte sie den Segen zur Eheschließung. Deshalb lädt sie nach einem Blick in Donnas Tagebuch, ohne deren Wissen, drei potentielle Kandidaten - Sam Carmichael (Ex-Bond Pierce Brosnan), Harry Bright (Colin Frith/Bridget Jones) und Bill Anderson (Stellan Skarsgård/Fluch der Karibik 2 & 3) - zur Hochzeitsfeier auf jenes Mittelmeeridyll, wo jeder der Männer in den Siebziger Jahren eine schöne Zeit mit Donna verbracht hat... Bei der (unter anderem auf Skopelos, Skiathos und Damouchair gedrehten) Musical-Komödie führte Phyllida Lloyd Regie. Sie hat das Stück bereits in London und New York auf die Bühne gebracht. Während dabei allerdings jeweils 24 bis 26 Songs zum Einsatz kommen, sind es in der Filmfassung nur 17! Der Grund: Die Filmemacher strichen nach einer Testvorführung einige Lieder für die Kino-Version. Solche Abba-Hits wie „I Have A Dream“, „Dancing Queen“, „S.O.S.“ oder „The Winner Takes It All“ sind zwar auf dem Soundtrack enthalten, doch Bestseller wie „Waterloo“, „Chiquitita“, „Thank You For The Music“, „One Of Us“, „Knowing Me, Knowing You“ oder „Fernando“ fehlen! Dafür wartet die vorliegende CD mit „When All Is Said And Done“ auf - ein Cover jenes Stückes vom letzten Abba-Album The Visitors (1981), das wiederum nicht in der Bühnenfassung des Musicals vorkommt! Die dringlichste Frage lautet natürlich: Wie schlagen sich die Darsteller der 90-Millionen-Dollar-Produktion als Sänger? Antwort: Dafür, dass sie keine ausgebildeten/erfahrenen Vocalisten sind, ausnahmslos erstaunlich gut, wobei vor allem Meryl Streep und Amanda Seyfried mit ihrem bislang unbekannten Gesangstalent positiv überraschen! Die Song-Arrangements weichen übrigens nur minimal von den weltbekannten Originalvorlagen ab; die Interpretationen besitzen jedoch bisweilen den für das Genre typischen Musical-Touch! Ansonsten aber kann sich der Hörer 69 Minuten 59 Minuten lang über Pop-Ohrwürmer zum Mitsummen oder -singen freuen! Thomas Hammerl |
