Notes: "NANCY WALKER and her husband DAVID CRAIG were good friends of Burt Shevelove, the librettist, director and sometime lyricist. Walker worked with Shevelove on his ill-fated A Month of Sundays, and in Los Angeles on the 1972 revival of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, starring Phil Silvers, which was remounted on Broadway. In fact, Sondheim wrote “The Farewell Song” when Walker agreed to play Domina. In the 1950s Craig, Walker and composer/arranger DAVID BAKER were an inseparable trio. In addition to Walden’s Ira Gershwin album, Walker worked with Baker on three shows: Phoenix ’55 and Copper and Brass, for which Baker wrote the music, and Do Re Mi, which Baker served as dance music arranger. The three of them collaborated on these recordings — given as a present to Burt Shevelove on Christmas 1951, the night that A Month of Sundays opened out of town."
