| Sammas 2007-08-20 02:07:59 | Michael Bennett is famous for his direction in "A Chorus Line", which features his style in minimalism and movie-like treatments. Here in this (another) marvelous musical he directed he used the same technique as well, only with more glittering and foot-tapping.
The musical is famous for its moving book, sensational score and stylish movements. The movie made in 2006 further promote these characteristics. Henry Krieger and Tom Eyen, then newbies in Broadway, have written songs which allow the role of Alfie to electrify, with the show-stopping number "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going". Other outstanding tracks include the splashy "Steppin' to the Bad Side", warm and homey "Family", and the sorrowful "One Night Only". |
