At first I hesitated buying it because I was familiar with only a few of the performers: brilliant producer/performer James Brewer ("Jimmy Thudpucker" of Doonesbury fame), Lisa Vroman ("Phantom," "Sweeney Todd in Concert on PBS"), Amy Dondy (the "Maria Callas of cabaret") and the fabulous Kelly Ground (the original Fantine in the Nat. Tour of "Les Miz"). Much to my surprise, the performers were uniformly amazing. The unique song choices, the great singing/acting and the incredible energy onstage and in the audience made me sorry I wasn't there in person. It must have been quite a night. I was able to see some clips from the concert itself on Youtube (is there a DVD in the making?), and I'm hoping to see this phenomenal piece of musical theatre history revived and brought to Broadway. > 2 Comments
